And now ladies and gentlemen, we again bring our attention to what I like to call Other People's Knitting. These next two lovelies are shop models knit by Nichole, and they have been so well-received here at the store that I thought they merited a post! Without further ado, the Bulky Weekend Jacket:
- Pattern: Bulky Weekend Jacket by Knitting Pure & Simple, size 40" finished chest
-
Yarn: Kreamer Yarns Bear Creek (99 wool, 1 nylon; 131 yds/200g), 4 skeins in color #1833, Green Tea
-
Needles: size US 17 (12,0mm) (I know - Freakin' Huge!)
Nichole just whipped this puppy out on size 17 needles, and she sewed in the zipper (from zippersource.com) with her sewing machine. The end result is a nice, warm jacket sweater and everyone around here tries on and falls in love with. Here's a closeup of the great heathered colors of the Green Tea colorway (it's hard to capture in a picture)
This has been a sleeper project - a pattern that was around forever in the store without anyone taking a second look, and yarn that had gone out of vogue because it is too bulky. Combine the two into this cute jacket and voila! The dream quick knit and perfect Fall coat.
Next up is the Cabled Scarf:
- Pattern: Cabled Scarf by Keep It Simple
-
Yarn: Alpaca With A Twist Highlander (50 merino, 50 alpaca; 150 yds/100g), 2 skeins in color #1013, North Sea
-
Needles: size US 13 (9,0mm)
Another pattern that's been around forever and never goes out of style. I am IN LOVE with this scarf and wish that I could take it home. I would knit one up for myself, but I've knit two of these bad boys already for past shop samples (in old yarns) and I'm not up for knitting a third. Right now, at least. We'll see...I keep wearing this one around the store....
