This is a new sample in the shop to spotlight a oft-overlooked but fantastic yarn: Nashua Natural Focus Ecologie Wool. This thick-n-thin yarn is all naturally dyed, and is named for its dyes with shades such as Indigo, Brazil Wood, and Acacia. The yarn has a subtle variegation, making for great-looking depth and texture in plainly knit fabric.
- Pattern: Victory Vest, by Natalie Wilson of iknitiative
- Needles: 24" circular size US9 (5,5mm) and 16" circular size US8 (5,0mm)
- Yarn: Nashua Natural Focus Ecologie Wool (100% naturally dyed wool, 50g, 87yd), 8 balls Curcuma
Size: 36" finished chest (I'm a 37" and wearing it not closed in the front, as intended)
This was a quick knit, in mostly garter stitch. The construction is way cool - two halves with mitered corners in front and back, sewn together up the center back. There are small sections of stockinette stitch around each sleeve, which is a nice touch.
The mitered lines meet in the back in a "V" (hence the name of the pattern), which is very flattering (my pictures, with glaring flash, don't show this very well). Overall a quick and satisfying knit - let's hope you all think so, too!
