Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who so generously donated yarn to our Middle School yarn drive. These kids now have an obsessively-healthy stash of yarn - as all proper knitting afficionados should!! Thank you for introducing them to the beauty of selection! :) They are having a blast madly knitting away on projects for friends, family, and charity.
Yesterday Vonnie and I heade to the Middle School with our last load of yarn to give a wee presentation on knitting hats. As I mentioned before, the kids voted to make hats for the local hospital - chemo caps or baby hats - depending on yarn and needles, of course. While we were there, we thought, who better to do our prize drawing than the kids! Before I announce the winners, I would like to mention again all of the lovely people who donated yarn - some from very, very far away, and some from our own neck of the woods!
Not yet mentioned are: Peninah, Mims Copeland, Marlee Goe, Kelsey Yuzon, Hanna Metzger, and Valerie. Previously mentioned donors include: Holly, Leslie, Amy, Anne (from the UK!), Jeanine, Amancay, Jill, Teri, Jill, Karen, Meg, Chrissy, Destiny, and Davy.
Without further ado: the winners. Our two volunteer middle-school-knitter-prize-drawers, Martha (left) and Priseida (right), officially drew our two winners. So Congratulations to Peninah, who won the handspun, beaded yarn by Lavender Sheep (aka Vonnie), and Teri Strauss, who won the $20 gift certificate to the store! We have one winner from the blogosphere and one from a local knitter, which is great.
Stay tuned for personal thank yous from the kids themselves!
those are my GirlScouts: Marta & Briseida!
