Sunday night I got to see The Decemberists live in concert, at the McMenimam's Edgefield in Troutdale, OR. Whew! It was a fantastic concert! It was especially fun because they are a hometown band, and having them play back in Portland makes the audience feel special, like being part of some kind of inside joke. Edgefield has concerts on the lawn all summer, and you just spread out a blanket or some chairs and enjoy the music. Best of all? Their concerts are all ages, so J and I just packed Mallory along for the ride - her first rock concert! :) Of course, I got a little knitting in. What, you say? She still knits? I know, I know - it's been WAAYY TOOO long since I've posted. But here's some proof for you:
Sockapalooza sock #1
My pal mentioned that she really has had her eye on the Boyfriend Socks by Slipped Stitch. The yarn is Lorna's Shepard Sock in Ice House - a great blue green mix in the skein, but not so great in this particular pattern.
The pattern was written for Lorna's, but looks much better in Slipped Stitch's subtle slate colorway, rather than this variegated blue/green that ends up looking a bit busy for all the great cables. Oh well - what're you gonna do? I'm certainly not starting over! The deadline is looming (Aug 17, I think). Plus, the needles - so tiny! The pattern calls for 0s, and I've never done socks on 0s before. But - my pal has small feet, and I didn't want to take any risk of the socks coming out too big, so I stuck with the 0s. So far, good decisions. They are just a bit tight for me to put on, which should be perfect for my pal.
A bit of baby news? Boy they grow fast. Everyone says it, but when I look at pictures I can see just how true it is. For example, below is an image of Campbell and Mallory side by side in Campbell's bed, and Mallory looks like a doll she's so small (her binky is as big as her face!). This picture was taken at 4 weeks.....
Now compare to a picture from last night (7 weeks), Mallory's first night on her back in the bassinet by our bed. (Long story - she has reflux and so far the only thing we've got her to sleep in restfully is her carseat. We were hoping she was ready to lay on a flat surface....Let's just say last night was a VERY L.O.N.G. night.) She looks huge! The nice thing is that her 0-3 month clothes finally fit, making it a little more interesting to dress her (especially since we have to change clothes - all of us - several times a day thanks to the reflux). :)
Back to knitting: I am plugging away at the teddy bear sweater, though it is on hold while I finish the Sockapalooza socks. I have the back and 2 sleeves done, and am a few rows from finishing the left front. All that will be left after that is the right front and the collar...cross your fingers I don't burn out before it's all done. I HATE this pattern, by the way, but I will expand on that when I have a FO post.
Last, I'll leave you with a nice picture of baby booty:
Stay tuned for pictures of Ms M in some of the lovely handknits she received!
Fun to hear the quick update! Only a few more weeks before we get back to those baby filled days again, ourselves!

Both of the boys had reflux, if you ever want to talk. The socks look great, the official end/send date is August 7, not the 17th. :) Miss M is looking just adorable, but how could she not?

I'm glad all is well. The reflux sucks! My youngest had it as well - we were even on meds for the issue. I remember it seemed like every time we were on the way out the door he "got us!" I totally feel for what you are going through!

I think I need to be your sock pal. I love the color.. Little M is just adorable too.

Great to hear from you. The girls look wonderful. Teri

So great to hear from you! You sound very chipper despite the long nights and "digestive difficulties". God the reflux! My first had it and I'd never seen anything like it...except maybe in "the Exorcist"! It will get better--hang in there. In the meantime, the girls are just adorable--love the booty shot!

so happy you are back! you have been missed! baby reflux does not sound like a lot of fun...will it get better as she gets older? either way, she is still a real beauty! the socks are lovely as well...the colors are still pretty regardless of the pattern!

Awww! How cute is this post? Cute shoes, cute kiddies, cute baby booty. No one can resist the baby booty.
My daughter had reflux too, have you seen these for the crib? http://www.babybedblocks.com

Oh, no--reflux! I definitely don't envy you, there. But look at what a cutie pie she is! :)
We took Aaron to tons of zoo concerts when he was an infant. So far Everett has been to the zoo, but no concerts yet.

My daughter had acid reflux for the first 4 months. My doctor prescribed a medicine that helped so much. Keeping bibs on her saved the changing of clothes a lot too.

True, the pattern doesn't show up as well in the LL, but I think the sock is beautiful! The teddy bear sweater looks cute (too bad it's driving you nuts) ... and so does little Mallory!

Great knitting, beautiful girls. Sorry about the reflux though... I hope it clears up soon. Nice to have you back!
I love Edgefield's summer concerts too. 2 years ago we went to a Didgeridoo one. It was great. Also bluegrass. Now I'm waiting for some Hawaiian slack key!
