My Sockapalooza package has arrived!
My pal was Felicia H., who appears to be blogloess (Felicia - if you read this: do you have a blog or email?). My socks are amazing. They are the Friday Harbor Socks from Nancy Bush's Knitting on the Road, knit out of Claudia Hand Paint fingering in Cotton Candy. The pattern is absolutely beautiful, and they are flawlessly knitted. I've never used Claudia Hand Paint before so it is great to receive socks knit out of it. Also in the package were a cool hard alligator container, chocolate con chile (yum yum yummy), a silver charm that says "Knitting Queen" (smile), some saffron (can't wait to try it out), and cute tissues.
I felt particularly emotional when I tried these beauts on because it dawned on me that after all the sock knitting I have done for myself and others, this is the first time that someone else has knit a pair of socks for me! And that is pretty darn cool. Oh - and I love the cuffs! I haven't tried anything other than ribbed cuffs for myself b/c I worried they wouldn't stay up, but these are perfect! I can't wait to do some like that! Thank you Felicia for this amazing gift.
In other news, I went out of town to a wedding this weekend and forced myself to bring my Phyllo Yoked Pullover (from Knitting Nature). This thing hasn't seen the light of day since I did the first 3/4 inch way back in May or something. But it is so damned boring! 200-odd stitches in stockinette in the round (I've adapted the pattern to the round). But - 6 or 7 hours of knitting later and I have almost 6" done now. Ay. No pics to show b/c it's just a big brown blob. I'll leave you instead with this pic of me and my girls . . .
Those socks are gorgeous. The subtle colours really let the pattern shine, while adding just the right amount of sparkle to the plain section. Wonderful socks!

Dear Knitting Queen Sockpal!
I'm glad that you enjoyed your socks. I hemmed and hawed about the pattern selection and yarn for weeks! Your comments make me very happy. Thanks for being a great subject throughout the summer.
Your Sockpal,
Felicia

I have to say I am becoming a bit envious of all these sock pal blog posts.. What a fun thing to do. There are soooo many amazing knitters out there. It makes me a bit nervous to ever attempt it. Pretty gift bundle and the girls are such picture QUEENS. Can't wait to see the socks in person..
